Song: If we confess our sins.
Conviction leads us to confession and repentance. It’s the voice and presence of God guiding us and protecting us.
Conviction also prevents us from sinning. Not only do we feel conviction after sin, but also before sinning.
2 Corinthians 7:1-11
Primarily starting in verse 8. “Godly sorrow” = conviction by The Holy Ghost.
:10 For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.
Hebrews 4:7-12 Both Old Testament and New Testament scripture helps to convict us of sin, including what’s specifically listed in this chapter as breaking the Sabbath commandment.
Traditional Christians don’t feel conviction/guilt about breaking the Sabbath, pagan Easter, etc. Because they don’t really have the presence of The Holy Ghost of Jesus.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the people of God may be fully capable, equipped for every good work.
Acts 2:37 God also uses sermons to convict us of sin.
John 6:44 The Father pulls us (draws us) into himself.
1 Thessalonians 5:19 warns believers, “Do not quench the Spirit.”
Don’t ignore or push away the conviction/guilty feeling.
Not to be confused with needless guilt based upon traditional false doctrine.
