John, last night, posted this famous saying:
I asked for strength
and God gave me difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for wisdom
and God gave me problems to learn to solve.
I asked for prosperity
and God gave me a brain and brawn to work.
I asked for courage
and God gave me dangers to overcome.
I asked for love
and God gave me people to help.
I asked for favours
and God gave me opportunities.
Kareem’s testimony: When I was a young teenager my friend and I got knocked off a bicycle by a motorist. We both got up and were unscathed afterwards. I think God was watching over and protecting us that day.
Sermon notes:
We are not a denomination/division of the whore of Babylon, false religion, false Christianity. But we do have characteristics that can be called “the style of Pentecostalism”. The fundamentalists believe in a literal interpretation of the bible, as we do also, as opposed to taking everything as symbolism, but of course the bible also includes symbolism. The evangelicals believe in the importance of evangelism, as we also do. But there’s certain aspects of the style of Pentecostalism that we also closely match. Again, not that we are a Pentecostal denomination, but rather that we have a Pentecostal style.
Power of God. 2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Understanding/realizing that God can and does touch computer parts, car parts, the flesh of the body, the mind, and the Earth itself and all things, to do whatever He wants. He can and He does. He’s involved in small things and large things.
He can create Heaven and Earth and nothing good is impossible with him.
Luke 1:37
Personal relationship with God. The power of God is manifested in the life of the individual.
To know God personally. Not just know about him.
1 John 2:4 John 14:15-23
Not a gospel about Christ, but the gospel from Christ.
Keep his commandments = Love and Knowing God.
Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
Eating a meal includes conversation, companionship.
Taking Communion. Relationship. Never having to say “Amen” at the end of a prayer, although we often do, but our prayer never really ends, as we are ongoing in a conversation with him all of the time.
Gifts of The Spirit: 1 Cor. 12
Freedom of Worship, as the bible is filled with people praising God and reacting to him in great unrestrained joy.
Fear of God: Proverbs 9:10 The Fear of GOD is the beginning of Wisdom.
I’ve noticed that people who think that they are wise, but aren’t wise at all, are the least fearful of God. Their false wisdom is based/rooted in their pride, not as a gift from God.
Holiness/righteous living: Hebrews 12:14 Pursue peace with all people, and the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.
2 Corinthians 7:1 Perfecting holiness.
Not overly liberal. (But neither are we overly legalistic like most Pentecostals are.)
Member participation/involvement: Giving testimonies, singing, serving, etc.
Every member is a part of the body. A part that doesn’t move is dead.
Promotion from within, not from college. Calling from GOD. Not man.
Bible never commands schooling for a preacher/minister/pastor. Called by God, not man. Galatians 1:1
Old School. Old ways. Old fashioned.
The church doesn’t need modernized. We shouldn’t have entertainment style lights, stage, rock’n roll, etc. Church is church, Holy ground. Not Hollywood.
The modern traditional church is too much like a night club or social club rather than a biblical learning place to worship the all powerful God in reverent fear.
Holy Ghost: Understanding the importance of the Blood, Logos/Christ crucifixion and resurrection and indwelling. Not just The Holy Spirit which exists in all places and things and even animals and wicked people as the breath of life.
-----
But not just in the spirit only as most Pentecostals do. But also in truth/facts/knowledge and understanding. Not in ignorance as most of them do. That’s where we are very different from most Pentecostals and other groups.
John 4:24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
