I can’t believe that I need to preach this sermon. It’s so foundational. So very fundamental. So very elementary. Yet it seems to be needed to be preached.
The Sabbath Day: 7th day, 1st day, no day, choose a day? Which is it?
We must begin this bible study in the New Testament because of how many people claim that all Old Testament law is trash.
Romans 14 People claim that this chapter teaches that we can just pick and choose any day to attend worship services and to rest; and that we shouldn’t condemn anyone for what day they choose.
But the words “sabbath” and “holy day” are not anywhere in this entire chapter. Instead, the words “food, drink, eat”, etc are constantly in this chapter. So very clearly it’s not teaching anything about the sabbath or holy days, but rather it’s teaching about food: vegetarianism and fasting.
Colossians 2 is the next place that the Sunday people like to point to. They claim that it says that we shouldn’t condemn the Sunday people for going to church on Sunday. But that’s not what it says at all.
And many people claim that it says that the Sabbath and holy days are done away. But it also doesn’t say that.
Instead, it very clearly says that the Sabbath keeping people shouldn’t allow anyone to condemn them for keeping the Sabbaths and New Moons, etc.
It says exactly the opposite of what the traditional preachers claim.
How could anyone believe the lies, when the scriptures are so very easy to understand and are in direct contradiction to their teachings? It’s brainwashing!
2:17 The Holy days foreshadow important future events.
The article at www.isawthelightministries.com/dates.html gives absolute undeniable proof that 5 end time biblical prophetic events will occur on the biblical holy days. If we are not observing the Sabbaths, we will be caught dangerously unprepared for those huge events.
Just because the disciples met on the first day of the week in Acts 20:7 and collected offerings on the 1st day of the week in 1 Corinthians 16:2 does not mean that the weekly Sabbath was switched to a different day. They also met on the weekly 7th Day of Rest & Assembly in Acts 13:14, 42, 44; Acts 17:2, Acts 18:4. They also met daily in Acts 2:46,47 Acts 3:2, Acts 5:42. All of these verses are ignored by the Sunday people who want to focus only upon the verses that they pick and choose out of context.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.
Yet they ignore James 2:10-26 Faith without works is dead/vain. Both are required.
They claim that keeping God’s commandments is in competition to the crucifixion, body and blood of Jesus. But it’s not. Obedience to Jesus is actually Love, honor and reverence for God.
1 John 2:3-6 If we don’t obey Him, we don’t love him!
John 14:15
Matthew 28:19-20
Jesus walked on Earth for another 40 days after He rose from the dead. During that long period of time, He never said that He had changed the Sabbath day to Sunday, or deleted it.
Matthew 5:17-20 Jesus himself said that He didn’t come to destroy the law.
Of course, we know that circumcision, unclean meats, and animal sacrifices were removed by the crucifixion. But Jesus was specific in Matthew 5 that the 10 Commandments (which includes the Sabbath) would not be removed until New Earth (Paradise).
Hebrews 4:1-11 Especially verse 9 is extremely clear that the keeping of the Sabbath day still remains.
Mostly only the KJV corrupts this verse and purposely changed the word for keeping the Sabbath day to the word “rest”.
1 Corinthians 5:7-8 The apostle Paul told the church to continue to keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread.
And we know that the church was still observing Pentecost 50 days after the resurrection of Christ.
And we know that Paul continued to observe Passover (1 Corinthians 11) and Pentecost (1 Corinthians 16:8) decades after the crucifixion.
Isaiah 66:23 Prophecy of keeping the Sabbaths in the millennium and 100 years after that.
Zechariah 14 Feast of Tabernacles will be required after Jesus returns.
Genesis 2:1-3 The Sabbath Law was part of creation, and therefore existed before and apart from Moses.
All 10 Commandments existed before Moses.
Jesus spoke the 10 Commandments directly to the people.
They were written by The Finger of God!
The bible never says that God sanctified the first day of the week.
And it also never says that Jesus rose on the first day of the week.
Matthew 28:1 says that the women had arrived at the empty tomb of Jesus while it was still dark, and it was still the Sabbath, and it was dawning toward the first day of the week. This proves beyond any doubt that Jesus did not rise on the 1st day of the week, and that the Sabbath does not begin at sunset, but rather at sun rise.

John 5:18 Jesus didn’t break the Sabbath Law. He was only falsely accused of it.
Context: Verses 5-24 Jesus was doing the work of God, even as a preacher who preaches on the Sabbath days. It’s not breaking the Sabbath.
He broke the Pharisee’s rules, not God’s law.
John 15:10 He said that He kept the commandments.
Matthew 19:17 Keeping the Commandments required for eternal life.
Jesus never sinned: Hebrews 4:15, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Peter 2:22
Reminder: Passover April 4, followed by 7 days of unleavened bread.
