Typo correction sermon notes Law of God voided?
Correction of typo in previous email:
Matthew 5:17-21, 27, 32 Jesus himself said that He didn’t come to destroy/void his own laws (of the 10 Commandments.) The context of this chapter is very clearly the 10 Commandments, therefore He wasn’t talking about circumcision, unclean meats, and animal sacrifices.
Cults like to use this verse, and also the verse that God doesn’t change, to try to claim that circumcision, and unclean meats laws are still required. Yet those are NOT what Jesus was talking about in this chapter, and we have plenty of bible verses that undoubtedly prove that those specific Old Covenant ritual laws were done away, voided.
I accidently left out the word “not”.
Legalistic cult Pharisees will try to seize onto this human mistake/typo. But the context of what I said, and the context of what Jesus said, is very obvious, that Matthew 5 was NOT talking about unclean meats, circumcision and animal sacrifices, but rather specifically about the 10 Commandments which includes the Sabbath day.
As I said in the sermon audio, and as you will eventually see in the full sermon transcript, Jesus didn’t have to mention the Sabbath specifically in his brief list of the commandments, because his audience already very firmly believed in, and kept the Sabbath already, and people in that day and time had more common sense than people today. So He didn’t have to repeat every one of the 10 Commandments for people to get his point, that He was absolutely talking about the big 10.
